Daycare dilemma

Let's hope Tom Christensen, new Minister of Children and Family Development, can do a better job creating quality, affordable daycare spaces in B.C.

Previous minister Stan Hagen was a huge disappointment, as was the premier, when he did not protest B.C. losing federal dollars with Harper's cancellation of the Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.

The bottom line is that mothers are in the workforce and kids need quality daycare spaces that parents can afford.

Harper's plan giving families with kids under age six a family allowance won't create one new space, improve the quality of daycare, pay decent staff wages or keep fees affordable.
