EXCERPT
Members of the Penticton Business and Professional Women's
Club attended the recent 40th Biennial Convention of the Canadian
Federation of BPW Clubs, held in Toronto.
Delegates passed an emergency resolution urging Prime Minister
Stephen Harper and his government to listen to the views of
the majority of Canadians, and to implement a national childcare
program that meets the early childhood development needs of
children, families and communities in this country.
Delegates also endorsed the Code Blue Campaign for Childcare,
which has as its objective winning the restoration of multi-year
federal funding to the provinces to start putting in place
a comprehensive, universal, high-quality system for early
learning and childcare.
Founded in 1930, BPW Canada's mandate is to improve the
economic, political, employment and social conditions for
women in Canada. Its convention, held every second year, brought
together delegates from across the country as well as observers
and international representatives from Jamaica, England, the
Netherlands and New York. ..
