Re: The importance of keeping mothers in the workforce, Fazil Mihlar, May 1

Fazil Mihlar's column offers insight into what we already know from the research, and the experiences of women in Quebec and countries like Finland, Sweden, France and Cuba. But all the while, the track record of the B.C. Liberals and the federal Conservatives defies wisdom. The two governments demonstrate an unwillingness to dedicate stable funding for child care and to build a child-care system.

How sad that these politicians think it is okay for mothers and our children to struggle when we want and need to contribute to our communities and to the economy, and when many women want and need to be in the workforce.
